On Wednesday 3rd September, 2003, John Rhys-Davies, the actor who portays Gimli the Dwarf in The Lord of the Rings trilogy of films, visited the Mint to launch a spectacular series of coins which show many of the main characters from the film. Issued by the Isle of Man Government, it is most fitting that John Rhys-Davies is himself a well-respected resident of the Island. John Rhys-Davies himself stated during his visit that "the coins are beautifully designed and minted and are a marvellous souvenir for any die hard The Lord of the Rings fan" |
