Yanick Dusseault, aka Dusso is credited as 'Senior Matté Painter' for both 'The Fellowship of the Ring' and 'The Two Towers'. Here are some very special behind-the-scenes look at some of his work. This particular shot shows one of the towers of the Black Gates - note how the top of the tower is incomplete, leaving room for motion elements to be inserted into the final plate - probably integrated using a 3D rendered environment.
