Peter Jackson is No. 8 on Entertainment Weekly's 'Power List' With his Lord of the Rings entries, Jackson now boasts two of the biggest, moneymakers ever -- and he'll likely notch a third when The Return fo the King opens in December (King might also increase his luck with gold of a different sort; despite its $919 million global gross, The Two Towers was largely ignored by Oscar). Jackson's $20 million payday to relaunch Universal's King Kong affirms his status as a Cameronesque filmmaking lord -- even as it drives other studios bananas over the deal's unprecedented bank busting. |
